Why I Run, by Charlene Labenda

It cannot be—not yet! The sound continues, an annoying beeping sound, echoing and vibrating on the nightstand near my head. Saturday mornings should be calm, peaceful, even lazy, I think. I try to ignore it and return to a dream I can no longer remember. A few more seconds pass, and finally, without hesitation, I pop up from the soft down cradling my head and shut off the alarm. My husband opens one eye and mumbles “have a good run” then rolls back over, covers his head with a pillow, and returns to sleep as quickly as he awoke. Run is the last thing I want to do at this moment (or let me be honest and say most moments), but I do not waste another second. I have already risen a little too late and will need to hurry.

6 Tips for Wellness in the Workplace

If you are going to spend 8+ hours {or more} at the office everyday you should make them count. A healthy lifestyle starts at home, but it’s easy to take those habits to work with you – and maybe even inspire others to join along and make smart choices!

As a runner and a woman who lives a healthy lifestyle I have been a BIG fan of juicing for a few years now. I bought my first juicer after a 20 pound weight loss and juicing has been a part of my daily life ever since.  Runners especially need their fruits and vegetables - they are an essential part of any athlete’s diet, and juicing is a easy way to get the nutrition you need.

I Am Strong – Cross-Training for Runners

I think it’s pretty clear by now that I love running. I also love to set goals for myself and improve my pace, my form and my time. But the funny thing about that is, you don’t always have to run to improve your running.

The sport of running is all about endurance, strength and speed. To truly make yourself a better running and a more well-rounded athlete, a runner should do more than just run.

I have a confession to make. I have a favorite race distance. I think every runner has a favorite distance they prefer to race. A distance they feel most comfortable running, feel great doing it and would go out and run everyday if they could!

For me, it’s an easy choice..

Whether you are getting ready to go away on a fun tropical vacation or just a weekend getaway planned later this summer it’s always a good idea to be prepared with a few different ways to keep your training on track.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to stay running while you are on the road...
