THE LAST WORD - The message

It’s like that old Faberge shampoo commercial, And they told two friends and so on and so on. If you don’t know what I am talking about check it out .

But it’s happening in such a grass roots way that before we know it this message and race will really take hold of thousands of girls and women.

Here are a just a few of the Perfect 10’ers who reached out to me today;

(I hope you don’t mind if I shared your thoughts)

1. I love being 58! My motto is "bring it on world". I'm sure I have undiagnosed hyperactivity but at my age it works for me! I not only train for the sport of triathlon but am a wife and mother. The crazier my life gets the more centered I feel. I never thought I'd be able to write a book. I didn't think I could sit long enough to gather my thoughts but now I've written 2 books! I am the mother of a disabled daughter and my books are about the challenges she faces and the challenges my family has faced. One is a children's book and the other is my memoir. Life after 50 is a "perfect 10! I'm trying to turn my years of caring for a disabled daughter and my wisdom and experiences into a business about raising awareness and acceptance. I'm on my soap box and love Steve Jobs quote, "because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do!" Plus each year I "age up" in the sport of triathlon!

Why I think she is the Perfect 10? She didn’t even mention the name of her books or ask to promote them. It is simply the message. BTW  I LOVE THAT QUOTE TOO.

2. The Teams

In just three months we have thousands of women signed up and most are on a team. The team captains email me for a team roster and then I hear, “Wow I can’t believe I have 50 women on my team”. They didn’t even know it. The word is just spreading and each day our message gets louder and louder you know us women when we want to be loud need I say more?

3. Endeleo Project

David Hersh founder of Endeleo Project has been a Charity Partner with the Unite Half Marathon since its inception and when I mentioned we had a new race he just said, “We’re in”. Today he tells me he has had a huge response from women who want to join his team. Even the MEN are going to be a part of this incredible race weekend!

4. Our Official Diva, Arlene

If you haven’t met her yet you’re life is not complete without at least an introduction. Arlene wakes up everyday (I am sure) and can’t wait to see what the day holds for her. She is our official Diva because she personifies what it means to be a Perfect 10.

She has embraced this race like she does everything else in life ..with a big bear hug.

This weekend she will host the Perfect 10 kickoff party at the Moorestown Running Company, keep in mind I did not ask her to do this she put the whole thing together including a training run, free breakfast, giveways and of course all her Diva Flair. She did it because she believes in this race and this message. It’s not what’s on the outside but the inside that counts.

Be sure to read about other Perfect 10 Sheroes and please be sure to share your stories with us no matter how big or small. And please try find one person whose life you might be able to change by crossing that finish line.

Michele Redrow, is the race director for the Perfect 10 miler. Her and her husband own CGI Racing; producers of the Unite Half Marathon at Rutgers University, New Jersey State Triathlon and the Black Bear Triathlon.
