Why I Run?

Why Do YOU Run?

Whether you run 5ks for fun or are a marathoner out to set a new PR, everyone has a different answer to the question – why do you run?

There are as many reasons to run as there are runners in the world.

Running means something different to each and every person. Today, I wanted to share with you, a few of the reasons why I run:

1.     I Run for Strength – Running gives me strength in my legs, my core and my mind. I feel strong and powerful when I am out there pounding the pavement. Running gives me extra energy - I always notice a little extra pep in my step on days I run compared to off days.

2.     I Run for Health – Running keeps me healthy and motivates me to make healthier decisions throughout each day. I also love to eat and running allows me to enjoy my favorite treats {in moderation!}

     I Run for Race Medals – I love me some race bling. I currently have a pretty sweet collection of race medals and I love adding to that collection. For me, running a race with a medal at the end motivates me. Some people like beer at the finish line, but for me, I enjoy a shiny race medal!

      I Run for Mental Clarity – Running is time for me to be alone with my thoughts.  It’s the time that I use to work through any problems I need to solve, blow off steam or organize my day. It’s nice to just unplug from technology {ok, maybe not all technology, a girl needs her Garmin!} and let my mind wander.

      I Run for Adventure – Running gives me freedom to explore. I love trying out new trails, signing up for races in new cities and just heading out there not knowing or caring where my feet will take me.

I run to be a part of this amazing running community. I run for the runner’s high. And most importantly, I run because I can.

So now it’s your turn – Why Do YOU Run?
